WHO Validates Kenya’s Malaria Programme

Nairobi  March8,2024 WHO external validators provided feedback on Kenya's Malaria Programme Review (MPR) within the implementation period of the Kenya Malaria Strategy (KMS 2019-2023).

The report  noted that despite challenges such as COVID-19, climate change, drug and insecticide resistance, and new vector species, Kenya's malaria programme has demonstrated resilience in fulfilling its objectives. Notably, Kenya boasts a robust surveillance system for monitoring malaria indicators.

Speaking in Afya House when she received the report,Principal Secretary,State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni reiterated the Ministry's dedication to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to revise the Kenya malaria policy, incorporating changes over time such as devolution, climate change, cross-border malaria management, and the integration of control measures into primary care. 

"This feedback will inform the development of the strategy for 2023-2027." Said the PS.
