Nairobi Monday April 17, 2023
Today, Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Dr. Josephine Mburu, officially kicked off the development of the 1st Strategic Plan of the State Department.
This plan will serve as a critical roadmap to guide the department in fulfilling its mandate, and will focus on three key priorities: accelerating Universal Health Coverage (UHC), achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and fulfilling the Kenya Kwanza Manifesto.
The PS highlighted that this plan will be a collaborative effort, with inputs and insights drawn from all relevant stakeholders, including the National and County Governments, Private Sector, and Development Partners. This comprehensive approach ensures that the plan will be inclusive, reflective of local needs, and grounded in real-world solutions.
In addition to its key priorities, the Strategic Plan will support the implementation of the broader national agenda, including vision 2030 and Medium Term Plan IV(2023-2027), as well as the upcoming Kenya Health Sector Strategic Plan(KHSSPV)2023-2027.
The PS emphasized that the plan will be guided by the Kenya Health Policy 2014-2030, which has an overarching goal of attaining the highest possible health standards in a manner that is responsive to the populations needs.
