Strategic Partnerships for Universal Health Coverage (UHC)

Nairobi Thursday August 10, 2023 The Government of Kenya appreciates the long standing development cooperation with the US Government.

USAID has been a key partner in health programmatic areas including HIV, TB, Malaria, Reproductive and Maternal Health among others.

Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni Muriuki met a team from the USAID led by John Kuehnle-Office Director, Health Population and Nutrition, to discuss strategic partnership to advance government agenda on health: Strengthening Primary Healthcare through formation of Primary Care Networks (PCNs).

The PS noted that PCNs are the anchor for publicly financed Healthcare and that USAID's Primary Impact Initiative that seeks to accelerate improvement of health outcomes through PHC aligns with the Government's Bottom -Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) on health. "The National Government, working together with the County Governments will leverage on such partnerships to advance the UHC agenda." enthused PS Muthoni.

Mr. Kuehnle was accompanied by Ms. Heidi O'bra-Deputy Office Director, Health, Population and Nutrition and Dr. Wangui Muthigani, Team Leader Primary Health Care, Maternal, Child and Reproductive Health.
