PS Public Health Engages with Tobacco Control Board on Key Matters

Nairobi Monday October 23, 2023 The Tobacco Control Board, led by Hon. Naomi Shaaban, met with Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary of the State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards, to address significant concerns.

The meet deliberations centered on the need for legislative amendments to grant the board the autonomy necessary for more effective regulation of tobacco-related issues.

The imperative to bolster resource mobilization was also discussed, as central point for empowering the board to carry out its mandate, particularly concerning anti-tobacco measures and public health initiatives.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of fostering strategic partnerships and collaborations to enhance the board's capabilities and influence in the realm of tobacco control.
