PS Kimtai Expresses Appreciation and Unveils Initiatives to Improve Pediatric Cancer

Β Nairobi, 22nd September 2024 - In observance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Principal Secretary Harry Kimtai from the State Department of Medical Services visited Ward 1E at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in the company of representatives from KENCO, Faraja, and Princess Maxima Hospital.Β

Kimtai commended the dedicated staff at KNH for their exceptional care and pledged continued support to enhance childhood cancer survival rates, stating, "We remain committed to providing the necessary resources and collaborating with partners."

During his visit to KNH's children's cancer ward, Kimtai applauded the hospital's innovative approach in engaging specialist doctors, recognizing the challenges faced by KNH.Β

He reaffirmed the Ministry's dedication to providing comprehensive support, including acquiring essential medical equipment and expanding facilities. Kimtai also unveiled plans to expedite the completion of the KNH burns unit project, aimed at improving healthcare accessibility and reducing congestion.

Additionally, the Ministry has implemented a new policy focused on cancer treatment, with Kimtai sharing intentions to introduce supplementary programs designed to elevate cancer care and treatment services across the nation.Β
