Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni Muriuki Evaluates Progress of Community Health Promoters Program in Kisumu, Kakamega, and Nandi

, 2024 , Principal Secretary for the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni Muriuki HSC visited the counties of Kisumu, Kakamega, and Nandi to assess the progress of the Community Health Promoters (CHPs) program implementation. This visit is part of the ministry’s broader initiative to enhance community health services across the nation.

The ministry in collaboration with Amref Health Africa in Kenya is actively working to improve healthcare delivery by sensitizing 4,000 health assistants and training 12,090 CHPs on essential health modules in all 47 counties. This comprehensive training program equips local health workers with the skills and knowledge needed to address various health challenges within their communities effectively.

"We are committed to empowering our Community Health Promoters with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure they can provide high-quality healthcare at the grassroots level," stated Mary Muthoni. "Our goal is to create a robust network of well-trained health workers who can meet the healthcare needs of every community."

Through this initiative, the ministry aims to empower CHPs to provide better healthcare access and improve overall health outcomes at the grassroots level. "By building this network, we are ensuring that quality healthcare services reach every corner of the country," Muthoni emphasized. "This program is a testament to our dedication to improving the health and well-being of all our citizens."
