Partnership Formed To Strengthen Danida Primary Healthcare Program In Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya - May 3, 2023

The Principal Secretary of State Department of Medical Services, Eng. Peter Tum, today met with the Deputy Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy and the CEO of the Council of Governors to discuss strengthening the Danida primary health care program in Kenya.
The meeting focused on ensuring that all 47 counties receive grants for the operation and maintenance of government level 2 and 3 health facilities, as well as community health services. The objective of the project is to enhance the impact and effectiveness of primary healthcare services in Kenya.
During the meeting, the attendees discussed how to streamline grant disbursement with fewer conditions and in a timely manner to ensure that the objective of the project is met. The Danida program is a critical part of supporting primary healthcare in Kenya, and the collaboration between the State Department of Medical Services, the Royal Danish Embassy, and the Council of Governors is essential to its success.
The Danida program provides support to all 47 counties to ensure that they can meet the operation and maintenance costs of their health facilities. This meeting is just one of many collaborative efforts to improve healthcare in Kenya.
