Nairobiย Friday July 14, 2023ย The Ministry of Healthย today convened its inaugural steering committee meeting at Afya House to discuss the establishment, launch, and operationalization of the M-Mama Program.ย 

This significant milestone follows a Public Private Partnership (PPP) event held at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi, where the Government of Kenya expressed its commitment to collaborate with the Governments of the United States of America and the United Kingdom, as well as the Vodafone and M-Pesa Foundations and other partners.

The M-Mama Program is a strategic PPP initiative designed to enhance maternal and newborn health by implementing a digital, innovative, real-time referral system to address emergency transport challenges faced by pregnant women.ย 

To kickstart the program, the Ministry of Health and its partners are focusing on the development and adoption of a memorandum of understanding, setting the groundwork for the program's successful implementation.
