Ministry of health strengthens Busia boarder surveillance amidst reported Ebola cases in Uganda
Busia ,2026 Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, conducted a spot-check visit to the Busia One Stop Border Post to assess Ebola preparedness measures, surveillance systems, and traveler screening procedures amid reported cases in neighbouring Uganda.
The Principal Secretary emphasized the Ministry of Health's focus on strengthening vigilance, ensuring strict adherence to public health protocols, and enhancing inter-agency coordination to prevent the importation and spread of Ebola. She reaffirmed the Government's commitment to strengthening border health security while facilitating safe cross-border trade and movement.
PS Muthoni commended health workers, border officials, and partner agencies for their dedication to strengthening disease surveillance, early detection, and emergency response capacity.
