PS Kimtai Leads National Tree Planting Day Activity in Elgeyo Marakwet

Elgeyo Marakwet, 10th May 2024 - On Friday May 10, Mr. Harry Kimtai, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Medical Services, along with Dr. Chris Kiptoo, his counterpart from the National Treasury, led residents of Kipkabus in Elgeyo Marakwet County in observing this year's National Tree Planting Day. 

 Mr. Kimtai announced that the Ministry of Health aims to plant 720,000 trees annually, with a commitment to plant trees in Elgeyo Marakwet County every month, aspiring to reach a total of 5 million trees planted. 

 “By responding to the presidential call to promote environmental conservation, let's strive to enhance forest cover for a greener, healthier Kenya,” he stated. 

The event, graced by Elgeyo Marakwet Governor H.E Wisely Rotich, saw the planting of over 60,000 tree seedlings.
