Kenya's Healthcare Transformation: President William Ruto Signs Landmark Bills into Law

Nairobi, Kenya -  - , His Excellency President William Ruto marked a pivotal moment in Kenya's healthcare journey by signing four critical bills into law. These laws, in conjunction with strategic policies, herald the most significant healthcare transformation since Kenya's independence.

They address issues such as low health insurance coverage and burdensome out-of-pocket costs.

The newly enacted Social Health Insurance Act establishes the Social Health Authority and introduces three new funds, securing publicly funded primary healthcare, universal health insurance, and equitable access to quality health services.

The Primary Healthcare Act emphasizes preventive and promotive health services, setting the stage for effective primary healthcare delivery.
Community health approaches and the deployment of over 100,000 community health promoters promise improved healthcare accessibility and affordability.

The Facility Improvement Financing Act empowers public health facilities with autonomy and unified approaches. The Digital Health Act streamlines technology adoption in healthcare, improving data sharing and patient care.

This significant stride towards universal healthcare is the result of extensive public engagement and the combined efforts of multiple stakeholders. These laws aim to save lives, empower communities, and contribute to a healthier nation.
