Kenya Seeks to Advance Global Health Collaboration Following WHS Nairobi Meeting
Nairobi, Kenya - - Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale held a courtesy call meeting at Afya House with Axel Pries, President of the World Health Summit, alongside CEO Carsten Schicker, following the Nairobi edition of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026.
The engagement reviewed key outcomes of the Summit, which convened leaders from government, academia, and global health institutions, reaffirming its role as a platform linking evidence, policy, and implementation while elevating African priorities within global health dialogue.
Kenya’s ongoing reforms toward Universal Health Coverage featured prominently during the discussions, with emphasis on strengthening community health systems, accelerating digital health adoption, and enhancing preparedness for health emergencies. These efforts continue to position Kenya as an active contributor to global health innovation.
Participants also noted the expanding continental health agenda led by the Africa CDC and the African Union, highlighting the importance of stronger alignment between regional initiatives and global platforms to maximise impact.
The Cabinet Secretary commended Aga Khan University for its role through the Academic Alliance in linking research, training, and policy, supporting the translation of evidence into action.
The meeting further explored future collaboration with the World Health Summit, including amplifying outcomes from the Nairobi meeting and sustaining engagement through key global processes such as the World Health Assembly.
Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships that support a more equitable, effective, and outcome-driven global health system.
