Kenya Reaffirms Progress in Malaria Fight, Calls for Stronger Partnerships
Nairobi , 2025 Kenya has reduced malaria prevalence from 8% to 6% in the past decade and cut malaria-related deaths by 93% annually through vector control, improved diagnostics, community engagement, and partnerships under the Kenya Malaria Strategy 2023–2027.
Speaking at a high-level malaria roundtable for African Countries in Nairobi, Public Health PS Mary Muthoni urged sustained collaboration, warning that drug and insecticide resistance, climate threats, and limited resources could reverse gains.
The Government welcomed WHO’s endorsement of the “Guardian” spatial repellent developed by SC Johnson and KEMRI, and commended partners such as SC Johnson and the End Malaria Council for their support towards Malaria elimination.
The PS stressed that aligning efforts with the Kenya Malaria Strategy is vital to ensure no community is left behind in the drive to end malaria.
