Kenya Pioneering Strategic Centers for Public Health in East Africa

Nairobi Tuesday April 9,2024 Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni has today chaired  the steering committee for  the establishment  of key institutions aimed at fortifying the region's health infrastructure.

The proposed establishments include the World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency and Logistics Hub, the East African Regional Coordinating Centre, the WHO Centre of Excellence on Assistive Technology, and the National Public Health Institute. 

The PS noted that the centers will build robust systems for preventing, detecting, and responding to public health emergencies promptly in Kenya and across the broader East African region.
