Kenya Joins International Vaccine Institute: Strengthening Vaccine Production and Healthcare Capacity

Seoul, South Korea - 5th June 2024 -  Kenya has officially become a Member State of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), marking a significant step towards bolstering the nation's capacity for vaccine production and self-reliance. 

 This move is poised to elevate primary healthcare and disease prevention efforts, with IVI's commitment to establishing a Country and Project Office in Nairobi. This office will spearhead the Advancing Vaccine End-to-End Capabilities in Africa (AVEC Africa) initiative.  

The accession ceremony, held at IVI headquarters in Seoul, South Korea, was attended by President William Samoei Ruto, IVI Director-General Jerome Kim, and Cabinet Secretary for Health Nakhumicha S. Wafula.
