Kenya to host the Regional Emergency Operations Centre for Africa-CDC

Nairobi June 16, 2023 Proper Coordination is key to prevention and control of public health emergencies. Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni HSC has this morning had a meeting with Africa CDC officials to discuss , operationalization of the East Africa Regional Collaboration Centre, progress on the operationalization of the Kenya National Public Health Institute  and establishment of a regional Emergency Operations Centre for the Africa CDC.

Kenya hosts the Eastern Africa Regional Collaboration Centre and is set to host the Regional Emergency Operations Centre due to the Country's strategic geopolitical position.

Vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics security is key to health service delivery. On this note we are honored by the proposal of H.E President William Ruto as the Africa Champion for local manufacturing of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs).

This year, Kenya is also set to host The regional ministerial steering committee meeting and the 5th African Union Mid Year Summit.

These developments are a show of Kenya’s commitment towards universal Health Coverage within the country and the region.
