Kenya and Sri Lanka Explore Healthcare Investment Opportunities in High-Level Meeting

Nairobi, Kenya - 3rd May 2024 -  Today, Mr. Harry Kimtai Principal Secretary for the State Department for Medical Services, held talks with Hemas Hospitals leadership from Sri Lanka, led by His Excellency Ambassador Kana V Kananathan, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Kenya. 

 The meeting aimed to discuss potential investments in Kenya’s healthcare sector, focusing on recent legislative developments like the Social Health Insurance Act and Facilities Improvement Financing Act.

Discussions centered on potential collaborations between the two countries, leveraging digital networks for efficient data management and healthcare delivery. 

Economic incentives in Kenya, including membership in regional blocs and Special Economic Zones, were highlighted. 

The partnership also explored opportunities for local manufacturing growth in Kenya’s healthcare sector, aiming to reduce costs and improve access to quality healthcare services.

Dr. Patrick Amoth, the Acting Director General for Health, was also present at the discussion.
