Kenya And Global Fund Strengthen Collaboration To Tackle HIV/AIDS, TB, And Malaria

Nairobi, Kenya, April 6, 2023

The Cabinet Secretary for Health in Kenya, Dr. Nakhumicha S. Wafula today met with Paul McCarrick, the Country Team Lead of the Global Fund, to discuss ongoing efforts to address the challenges of HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria in the country.
The meeting focused on the partnership between the Ministry of Health and the Global Fund, with particular attention given to the upcoming distribution of long-lasting mosquito nets in 27 counties affected by these diseases.
During the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary emphasized the need to strengthen the accountability systems for the Global Fund to ensure transparency and effectiveness in implementing programs.
The Global Fund has been a key partner in Kenya's efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria, providing funding and technical support for prevention, treatment, and care services.
The upcoming distribution of mosquito nets is part of a wider initiative to combat malaria, which is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, especially among vulnerable populations like pregnant women and children under five years old.
