Kenya and Egypt Forge Collaboration to Enhance Healthcare Systems

Nairobi, Kenya - 6th March 2024 - Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Harry Kimtai, convened a meeting with an Egyptian delegation. The delegation comprised Dr. Hesham Mohy Hassan Badr, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology, Dr. Aiman Saad Nasreldin Elmetwally Elkhatib, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, and Dr. Osama Hatem Mohamed Abdelhalim, Director General of Public Relations and International Cooperation of the Egyptian Drug Authority.

Β The discussions primarily centered on fostering collaboration between Kenya and Egypt to strengthen pooled procurement, facilitate bilateral trade in health products and technology, and build capacity for local manufacturing in the healthcare sector. Both nations aim to advance their healthcare systems to maturity level 3, marking a significant stride towards providing enhanced healthcare services to their citizens.
