Innovative Partnerships For Health Sector Resilience

Nairobi Thursday October 12, 2023 Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Ms. Mary  Muriuki has  underscores the importance of partnerships in achieving  Universal Health Coverage (UHC). 

Speaking during a meeting with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Ms Muthoni said that collaboration is essential to address challenges like limited healthcare infrastructure, funding constraints, and healthcare professional shortages. 

The PS informed that the Facility Improvement Fund Bill 2023 being championed by the government aims to enhance revenue collection for equitable financing.

"Partnerships with non-state actors, including NGOs and private healthcare providers, are crucial in complementing government efforts and improving healthcare access." Said the PS

She observed that the transition from curative to preventive healthcare is progressing as a result of collaborative efforts and emphasized the need for long-term sustainability of projects including monitoring, evaluation, financing, and resilient healthcare infrastructure.
