Health CS Nakhumicha Attends High-Level Meeting on NHIF Transition and UHC Implementation

Nairobi, Kenya - 27th October 2023 - Health CS Nakhumicha S. Wafula 

today convened a meeting with the newly appointed Directors of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), led by CEO Mr. Elijah Wachira.

During the meeting, the CS stressed the necessity of formulating a strategic roadmap for a seamless transition, encompassing concerns like staff matters, patient data, and outstanding debts.

In response, Mr. Elijah Wachira expressed his gratitude for the government's trust and vowed to work diligently to facilitate the fund's transition to its next phase.

This transition is aligned with the ongoing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) initiative, a recent venture launched by President William Ruto.

The six new directors joining NHIF are as follows:
•Ms. Hazel Koitaba, Director Beneficiary and Provider Management
• Ibrahim Mohamed Alio, Director Corporate Services
• Pariken Ole Sankei, Director Internal Audit
• Catherine Mungania, Corporation Secretary/Director Legal Services
• Robert Ingasira, Director Financial Services
• Martin Ayoo, Director Information and Communication Technology
