Health CS Leads Inauguration of Talek MNCH Project: A Milestone for Narok County

Narok, Kenya - 1st March 2024 -  In a milestone event for healthcare in Narok County, the Talek Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) project was officially inaugurated at Talek Hospital today

The opening ceremony, led by Health CS Nakhumicha S. Wafula, highlighted the collaborative efforts of the M-PESA Foundation, Gertrude’s Hospital Foundation, Community Health Partners, and the Narok County government in establishing this vital facility.

Addressing attendees, Health CS Nakhumicha S. Wafula emphasized the center’s pivotal role in providing accessible maternal care, including a dedicated maternity shelter for high-risk mothers.

This facility marks a milestone as the first medical center in the Maasai Mara region to offer assisted deliveries, including cesarean sections, alongside comprehensive support for expectant mothers.

Furthermore, the integration of the center with the Daktari Smart telemedicine program ensures seamless access to specialist consultations from Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, eliminating the need for patients to travel to Nairobi.

Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu commended the collaboration between Narok County and the national government, emphasizing the strides made in improving healthcare accessibility and infrastructure.

He underscored the administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services by increasing the number of healthcare facilities, improving hospital infrastructure, and ensuring a constant supply of medical essentials.
