Health Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha conducts inspection of the East African Center of Excellence for Urology and Nephrology
Nairobi, KENYA - 13th September 2023 - Health Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha S Wafula conducted an inspection of the East African Center of Excellence for Urology and Nephrology, situated within the Kenyatta National Hospital grounds.
Accompanied by her East African Community (EAC) and Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) counterpart, Rebecca Miano, Nakhumicha emphasized the need for expedited completion of the project to meet the rising demands of patients and save lives.
Addressing the project engineer, Nakhumicha expressed concern over a cost variation of Kshs 525 million, urging a reassessment to make it more feasible for the nation.
She emphasized the urgency of providing services to patients, acknowledging that for many, it's a matter of life and death.
"The facility that has been put up to serve their interest," she stated, "when they see this institute working, they will breathe a sigh of relief."

The project, funded by the African Development Bank in partnership with the Kenyan government, is scheduled for an official opening in December.
