Health Cabinet Secretary Leads Kenyan Delegation on Benchmarking Visit to South Korea for Health Innovation and Collaboration

Date: 24th July 2023 𝐒𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐥, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚: Health Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha S. Wafula is leading a delegation from Kenya on a benchmarking visit to Seoul, South Korea accompanied by the Principal Secretary of the State Department of Medical Services, Harry Kimtai. The visit aims to explore advancements in healthcare management and foster potential collaborations between the two nations in the healthcare sector.
 
During their visit, the Kenyan delegation had a significant meeting with the South Korean Minister for Health and Welfare, Cho Kyoo Hong. The discussions focused on various aspects of healthcare management in South Korea, including medical data management, national health insurance, local manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, research and development, regulatory reforms for digital health and telemedicine, health workers management system, and healthcare financing.
 
Both parties explored potential collaborations in research and development to bolster local pharmaceutical manufacturing in Kenya. The South Korean Minister emphasized their country's focus on promoting bio-health as its second driving force, showcasing their commitment to advancing the healthcare sector.
 
This benchmarking visit provides an invaluable opportunity for Kenya to learn from South Korea's experiences and best practices in healthcare, paving the way for potential collaborations and advancements in the medical sector. The insights gained from this visit will contribute to the improvement of healthcare services and support the ongoing efforts to achieve better health outcomes for all Kenyan citizens.
