Exploring partnerships to strengthen Primary Health Care Networks

Nairobi June16,2023The acceleration of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) relies on effective community health strategies and robust primary healthcare systems. Recognizing this, Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, held a meeting today with USAID Kenya Acting Deputy Mission Director, John Kuehnle, to explore collaboration opportunities in strengthening Primary Health Care Networks (PCNs).

During the meeting, discussions centered around key areas of partnership aimed at enhancing primary healthcare services in the country. Notably, USAID has pledged support for the capacity building of Community Health Promoters in 26 counties. This support comes at an opportune time as the government prepares for a comprehensive rollout of community health services.

Expressing her appreciation for the support, PS Mary Muthoni welcomed USAID's commitment to capacity building. She emphasized the importance of this collaboration in bolstering community health initiatives and strengthening the overall primary healthcare system.

In addition to the focus on PCNs, the meeting also delved into strategies for improving maternal health indicators in the country.
