Enhancing Lab Skills for Epidemic-Prone Diseases in Kenya

Machakos, KENYA - 21st October 2023 -  WHO Kenya, in collaboration with the National Microbiology Reference Laboratory, has successfully completed a 5-day hands-on training in Machakos. 

This training was tailored for 22 Laboratory Officers from 11 cholera-affected counties.

The primary objective was to empower Laboratory Officers with advanced skills and knowledge in microbiological detection and confirmatory processes for epidemic-prone diarrheal diseases. 

Notably, a separate training took place in Nakuru last week, benefiting 24 Laboratory Officers from 12 additional counties, providing them with similar valuable training.
