Enhancing Access To Healthcare For Communities: Launch Of Manyatta NHIF Program

Embu, Saturday October 7, 2023 Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni has today launched the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) Program for  Manyatta Constituency, Embu County.

This initiative is  part of the National Government Constituency Development Fund, aimed to ensure every citizen's right to access quality and affordable healthcare, aligning with the principles of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the #AfyaBoraMashinani goal.

The program will  support 600 individuals living with chronic illnesses, victims of boda boda accidents, and vulnerable members of society to access healthcare.

In harmony with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the government is dedicated to providing quality healthcare to all households in Kenya. In this regard, the government has successfully trained and equipped a dedicated group of 100,000 Community Health Promoters (CHPs). These CHPs will play a crucial role in promoting Primary Healthcare and facilitating proper referral systems towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The pinnacle of these endeavors will take place during the Mashujaa Day Celebrations, when His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto will flag off 100,000 CHPs to the 47 counties.

This momentous occasion symbolizes a major stride towards improving healthcare access for all Kenyan citizens.
