From Decisions to Action: Last Mile of National Objective of Ending Aids as a Public Health Problem by 2030

Mombasa Thursday August  31,2023 Today marked the culmination of a three-day Maisha Conference organized by the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council that brought together researchers, scientists, programmers, and other stakeholders in the HIV response both in the country and globally.

Speaking during the closure of the conference today Mary Muthoni Muriuki, the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards applauded the collaborative efforts of the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council, the National Council for Population and Development, and the Ministry of Interior and Government Coordination to combat the intertwined issues of new HIV infections, adolescent pregnancies, and gender-based violence.

“We must demonstrate how our domestically crafted solutions stand ready to address complex challenges through comprehensive interventions,” she advised.

The 7th Edition of the Conference was a platform for policymakers, scientists, communities and partners to share knowledge and insights gained over almost four decades of the HIV response.

As we enter the last mile of our national objective of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, our commitment is to move decisions to action focusing on Protection, prevention and promotion she noted.

She acknowledged all the partners in the HIV response journey, the US Government through @PEPFAR,@UNAIDS_Kenya @LVCT @jhpiego @ NCPD_Kenya @EGPAF @nascop @unicefKenya @Globalfund among others. “Thank you for walking with us towards a HIV Aids free Kenya.”
