CS Nakhumicha Commends UCSF Collaboration for Promoting Local Healthcare Development

Nairobi, Kenya - 30th April 2024 -  The partnership between Kenya’s Ministry of Health and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) to enhance Monitoring and Evaluation capabilities for healthcare programs has received commendation from Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula.

During a meeting with a UCSF delegation led by Prof George Rutherford, CS Nakhumicha underscored the importance of this collaboration in advancing Universal Health Coverage in Kenya. 

She stressed the need for a cost-effective nationwide insurance model to ensure equitable access to essential medical services for all citizens. 

 Recognizing the pivotal role of Community Health Promoters in promoting preventive healthcare, CS Nakhumicha affirmed the government’s support for the electronic community health information system (eCHIS) to manage health services efficiently.

Discussions also covered various healthcare sectors, including HIV control, Global Health Security, Health Research Collaboration, and Digital Health Advancement. 

 The CS was accompanied by key officials, including Deputy Director General for Health Dr Sultani Matendechero and NSDCC CEO Dr Ruth Masha.

UCSF’s impact extends globally by innovating healthcare approaches, training professionals, and translating scientific discoveries into practical solutions. 

This includes support for education and the application of scientific findings to improve health outcomes for all, including vulnerable populations.
