CS Health Nakhumicha Wafula's Visit to St. Mary's Mission Hospital Mumias

Kakamega, Kenya - 4th January 2024 - Continuing her nationwide inspection tour of health facilities, CS Health Nakhumicha S. Wafula today visited St. Mary's Mission Hospital Mumias.

This initiative aims to inaugurate a more robust and efficient healthcare program.

During her visit, a recurring concern emerged as Nakhumicha highlighted the overdue payments by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

She announced partial payments of Kshs 21 million, a fraction of the total Kshs 70 million owed to the hospital.

ย Addressing hospital staff, Nakhumicha emphasized the urgency of wisely utilizing the disbursed funds.

"We're pushing for reforms in the health insurance scheme due to the outstanding debts faced by church-based medical institutions. Invest the funds thoughtfully in acquiring equipment, compensating staff, renovating facilities, and securing essential medical supplies," she advised.
