CS Health Assures Timely Payments to Healthcare Facilities Amid Challenges

Health Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha S. Wafula addressed concerns surrounding delayed payments to healthcare facilities today.

Speaking at the launch of the Health Census Report, she reaffirmed the ministry's dedication to ensuring prompt fund disbursement, especially amidst current challenges.

Nakhumicha emphasized that the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has contracts with 8000 hospitals, 80% of which provide comprehensive healthcare services.

Notably, NHIF processes an average of 4000 transactions per month, disbursing around 3 billion Kenyan shillings to healthcare facilities.

"I can confirm that payments totaling 2.9 billion have been disbursed between July, August, September, November, up to the 15th of December," stated Wafula, acknowledging the issues faced during the festive season.

The CS assured healthcare facilities of the ministry's commitment to disburse a total of 3 billion Kenyan shillings to all facilities by the year-end. Payments are scheduled to commence next week, starting on Monday.
