County Role in Achieving Universal Health Coverage Emphasized at UHC Launch Event

𝐊𝐚𝐩𝐀𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐭, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 πŸπŸ”π­π‘ πŽπœπ­π¨π›πžπ« πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ‘ - Counties play a pivotal role in ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all citizens. During the launch of primary health care networks in Kericho County onΒ Monday, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula, emphasized this crucial role.Β 

Her remarks underscore the significance of Primary Health Care (PHC) in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), a program set for an imminent launch on mashujaa day onΒ 20th October 2023.Β 

The event unfolded at Kapkatet Stadium in Kericho County during the opening of the UHC Mashujaa Program, presided over by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.Β 

CS Wafula urged County Governors to prioritize Primary Health services, recognizing their potential to transform the nation's healthcare landscape.

She also pledged full support for counties in implementing health policies and strategies, emphasizing collaboration with the Council of Governors to sustain progress and swiftly address any pending or emerging issues.Β 

Governors in attendance, including Eric Mutai, echoed their commitment to innovative solutions to ensure the success of the UHC program.Β 

CS Nakhumicha expressed her gratitude to Members of Parliament and Senators for their dedication to passing essential healthcare bills, supporting the goal of achieving UHC as part of the Kenya Kwanza administration's mission.

The promotion of Primary Health Care is integral to the government's comprehensive strategy for enhancing the nation's healthcare system and achieving UHC.Β 

This year, the government initiated the national scale-up of UHC and introduced policies and guidelines aimed at strengthening primary health care service delivery. In attendance included Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore, Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok, and Narok East MP Ken Aramat, among others.
