Community Health Promoters Driving Primary Healthcare in Embu

Embu , 2025 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) continue to play a vital role in advancing Universal Health Coverage by bringing essential services closer to households. In Embu, their contribution was recognized alongside the support of H.E. President William Ruto, who has ensured their training and timely payments to strengthen primary healthcare delivery.

The county is making significant progress, leading with 55% SHA registrations which guarantee residents free healthcare at Levels 2, 3, and 4 facilities. Recruitment of nurses and doctors is ongoing to ensure all hospitals are fully operational, while the renovation of four Level 4 hospitals and the consistent restocking of medicines are also underway. Beyond healthcare, Government investments in markets, an industrial park, and improved road infrastructure are helping to drive inclusive economic growth.

These developments were highlighted during a Public Engagement Forum in Embu, attended by Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, H.E. Governor Cecily Mbarire, and Mt. Kenya leaders, who reaffirmed their shared commitment to better healthcare and sustainable development for the people of Embu.
