Today, the Cabinet Secretary of Health, Dr. Nakhumicha S Wafula held a meeting with a team from the World Food Program (WFP) led by WFP Country Director Ms Lauren Landis to discuss areas of support. The meeting focused on WFP's support for drought assistance, emergency school feeding, and capacity building for healthcare workers.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Health (MOH) highlighted areas of achievement in nutrition, including the school menu program and the introduction of nutrition as an important subject in the school curriculum through a teacher's reference manual. The WFP pledged to continue supporting the government of Kenya.
"We appreciate the continued partnership with the World Food Program in improving healthcare and nutrition in Kenya," said Dr. Nakhumicha.

The WFP has been a key partner of the Kenyan government in addressing nutrition and food insecurity in the country. The organization has been providing support in areas such as emergency food assistance, nutrition interventions, and building resilience against shocks caused by climate change.
The government of Kenya has made significant progress in improving nutrition outcomes in recent years, and the partnership with the WFP has played a crucial role in achieving these gains. The continued support of the WFP is vital in ensuring that the gains made are sustained and that the country continues to make progress in improving the health and well-being of its citizens.

The Cabinet Secretary of Health expressed her appreciation for the support provided by the WFP and looked forward to continued collaboration in the future.
