Cabinet Secretary for Health Joins "Walk the Talk: The Health for All Challenge" in Geneva Ahead of #WHA76

Geneva, May 21, 2023 - The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula, took part in the highly anticipated "Walk the Talk: The Health for All Challenge" held in Geneva prior to the opening of the 76th World Health Assembly (#WHA76). This engaging event brought together esteemed individuals and organizations to promote the World Health Organization's commitment to sport and health, and its collaboration with youth in achieving the shared goal of health for all.

Accompanied by Ambassador Dr. Cleopa Mailu and the dedicated staff of the Permanent Mission in Geneva, the Cabinet Secretary embarked on this health-focused endeavor. Joining them were influential members of the National Assembly's Health Committee, including Dr. James Nyikal, Hon. Miruka, and Hon. Sunkuli. Additionally, the Chair of the CEC Health Caucus, acting DG Health Dr. Amoth, and several technical staff from the Ministry of Health (MOH) were present, showcasing their support for universal health coverage.

The Health for All Challenge not only emphasized the importance of achieving universal health coverage but also marked the 75th anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO). This milestone celebration highlighted the WHO's significant contributions to global health throughout the years.

Infused with excitement and unity, the event featured captivating dance performances and garnered support from Geneva's premier male and female football, ice hockey, and rugby teams. Notably, former professional long-distance runner Paul Tergat graced the occasion, adding his star power to the cause.

The Cabinet Secretary's participation in the "Walk the Talk: The Health for All Challenge" serves as a testament to Kenya's commitment to promoting health and well-being on the international stage. By engaging with global partners and advocating for inclusive healthcare, Kenya reaffirms its dedication to achieving health for all.

The CS also chaired a briefing session with the WHA76 Kenya delegation at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva.This significant gathering showcases Kenya's commitment to global health and active engagement in shaping critical policies.
