Advocating for Increased Resources to Enhance Preventive and Promotive Health Programs

Nairobi Tuesday, May 21, 2024 Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni  met with the Parliamentary Committee on Health to discuss the 2023/24 Supplementary Estimates 2. The PS  advocated for increased investment in programs focused on preventive and promotive health. Specifically, she  sought additional funding for critical public health areas such as port health services, disease surveillance, the Kenya National Public Health Institute, the National Quality Control Laboratory, food safety, neglected tropical diseases, clinical waste disposal, health promotion and education, and radiation protection.

PS Muthoni emphasized that the  funding aims to achieve the #AfyaNyumbani goal by delivering last-mile healthcare, reducing the burden of preventable diseases, and improving public health outcomes in Kenya.
