$18 Million Public-Private Partnership To Save Lives Of Mothers And Babies In Kenya

Nairobi Wednesday June 21,2023 Kenya has made significant milestones in enhancing the well-being of mothers and children, Currently 90% of women choose to give birth in health facilities. However a percentage of women  still experience challenges of  delays in  accessing services, transportation hitches and  timely interventions to quality health services.

To address these challenges and build on the gains made, the Government of Kenya, the United States Government through @USAID,Vodafone Foundation, Safaricom, and the M-Pesa Foundation have initiated a partnership to bring the m-mama program to Kenya.

M-Mama program is an innovative mobile technology that links emergency referral systems and transports pregnant women and newborns facing complications to healthcare facilities.

This initiative is complimentary and aligned with the Government's priority to deliver Universal Health Coverage through primary healthcare and operationalize electronic health information systems.

This program signifies the goodwill and commitment by the Government and partners to strengthen the healthcare system and foster a healthier future for the people of Kenya.
