PS Oluga Underscores Full Implementation of e-GP in Health Procurement
𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 - 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 - Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr Ouma Oluga, has reaffirmed that the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system is central to improving efficiency and ensuring the timely delivery of healthcare services.
Addressing procurement officers in the State Department, Dr Oluga together with the Principal Secretary for Public Investments and Asset Management, Mr Cyrell Wagunda Odede emphasised that the Ministry is driving key reforms in supply chain management, strengthening KEMSA, promoting local manufacturing, and embracing digitisation to transform service delivery.
Mr Odede urged officers to lead the rollout, stressing that all government procurement must now be conducted electronically. He noted that 1,285 procuring entities and 7,637 suppliers have already registered, with more than ten institutions uploading their plans. Thousands of officers and suppliers have also been trained, supported by a dedicated help desk.
He added that e-GP will cut costs, shorten procurement cycles, increase transparency, and maximise value for money, while safeguarding confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity in all transactions. Mr Odede directed all procuring entities to forward budgets, create users, and commence procurement planning, reaffirming that there will be no turning back from the digital shift.
