PS Muthoni leads commemoration of the Global Handwashing Day 2024

Machakos , 2024 Kenya commemorated #GlobalHandwashingDay 2024 in Machakos County, led by Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni. 

During the event, the PS launched the “Epuka Uchafu, Afya Nyumbani” initiative, aimed at transforming hygiene practices nationwide. "This initiative emphasizes personal hygiene, waste management, and access to clean water, empowering communities, schools, and health workers to take action." PS Muthoni stated.

She emphasized that clean hands are the first line of defense against diseases, and the initiative  targets to  make handwashing a  habit for every Kenyan.

Through clean-up drives, tree-planting events, and health campaigns, the initiative calls on all Kenyans to embrace handwashing and build a healthier, more sustainable future.
