Principal Secretary for Medical Services Meets Senate Health Committee to Advance Universal Health Coverage Bills

Nairobi, Kenya - 13th September 2023 Β - Today, Mr. Harry Kimtai, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Medical Services, held a meeting with the Senate Health Committee, led by Chairman Senator Jackson Mandago.Β

Β This meeting is part of the Ministry of Health's efforts to engage various stakeholders in discussions on the proposed Universal Health Coverage (UHC) bills.Β

These four legislative proposals aim to improve the efficiency of health service delivery and address challenges within the health sector.

The bills are a crucial part of the government's broader strategy to advance UHC and ensure that no one is left behind.Β

They are also aligned with the comprehensive reform agenda under the Kenya Kwanza Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which aims to enhance the health sector.Β

Β The bills specifically focus on strengthening Primary Health Care through four key pillars: Health Financing, Human Resource for Health, Integrated Health Information Management System, and Health Commodity Security.Β

Β The Senate team has pledged to collaborate with the Technical Working Group to ensure the successful passage of these transformative legislative agenda bills. This will enable Kenyans to access quality healthcare, as envisioned by the Kenya Kwanza Government.
