Nairobi, Kenya May 17, 2023

Addressing  a stakeholders forum from the private sector and faith-based organizations (FBOs) today , Health CS Nakhumicha S. Wafula highlighted their crucial contribution to achieving universal health coverage (UHC).
Recognizing the importance of the private sector in healthcare service delivery, the CS emphasized the need for a different approach based on the lessons learned.
She said the Ministry of Health has taken a significant step by developing a tool to assess the quality of services, not only in public health facilities but also in the private sector.
This move aims to ensure that all stakeholders actively participate in the ministry's transformative agenda. CS Nakhumicha expressed that this marks a complete shift from previous practices, indicating the ministry's commitment to innovation and inclusivity.
Furthermore, the CS revealed that the ministry is in the process of amending the NHIF Act. In this regard, she encouraged stakeholders to share their valuable perspectives, as their input will be instrumental in shaping the future of healthcare financing in Kenya.
The partnership between the government, faith-based organizations, and the private sector is vital in the journey towards achieving UHC.
