PS Mary Muthoni Assesses Ebola Preparedness at Eldoret International Airport

Eldoret  June6,2026 Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, visited Eldoret International Airport to assess preparedness measures and strengthen public health surveillance amid regional Ebola concerns.

The visit focused on reviewing passenger screening procedures, emergency response readiness, infection prevention and control measures, and coordination among health and airport authorities to ensure the country remains prepared to detect and respond to potential public health threats.

The Principal Secretary emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance at all points of entry and reaffirmed the Ministry of Health's commitment to strengthening surveillance, preparedness, and response systems to safeguard public health.

She noted that robust screening, early detection, and effective coordination among relevant agencies remain critical in preventing the importation and spread of Ebola and other infectious diseases while ensuring safe and efficient passenger movement.
