Kenya Steps Up Fight Against TB and Lung Diseases Through Strengthened Partnerships
Nairobi ,2025 The government is keen on disease prevention as a key driver of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). While progress has been made in TB diagnosis, treatment, and management, significant challenges persist, particularly in early detection and integrated care.
To accelerate progress, the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, met with stakeholders from Integrated Program on
Asthma, Chronic, Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases and TB (IPACT). The discussions centered on strengthening linkages between TB and lung health services, expanding access to modern diagnostics, building healthcare provider capacity, and raising public awareness.
The PS called for concerted efforts in ensuring timely diagnosis, effective treatment, and ultimately reducing the burden of TB and other chronic lung diseases in Kenya.
