The Ministry of Health is strengthening the credibility of Kenyaโ€™s health training institutions and building a resilient health system as key pillars in the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Dualeย ย chaired a high-level engagement with the Commission for University Education (CUE), the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), and professional health regulators to address systemic gaps between health and education.

The meeting resolved to develop a joint framework to integrate health workforce planning, training, and placement, while ensuring that all programmes and curricula meet regulatory and professional benchmarks.

Reaffirming the Ministryโ€™s unwavering commitment, the CS emphasised the importance of equipping Kenya with adequate numbers of skilled, multidisciplinary health teamsโ€”essential for the rollout of Taifa Care and for delivering a health system that is safe, affordable, accessible, and of the highest quality.

โ€œWe are safeguarding patient safety and ensuring quality healthcare through higher professional standards,โ€ said Hon. Duale.

In attendance were Principal Secretaries Dr. Ouma Oluga (Medical Services) and Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health and Professional Standards); CEOs Dr. Kelly Oluoch (KMTC), Dr. David Kariuki (KMPDC), Anne Mukuna (NCK), Dr. David Okeyo (KNDI), Dr. Agnes Wahome (KUCCPS), and Prof. Mike Kuria (CUE), among other senior government officials.
