As part of Kenya’s digital transformation agenda, Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale delivered 1,140 digital devices to Nakuru County to support the Health Information Exchange (HIE)—a platform designed to give Kenyans ownership, portability, and control over their health data.
With 3,306 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) now trained, equipped, and embedded in the Ministry’s healthcare delivery model, the CS expressed confidence in their role in advancing people-centred care under the Taifa Care programme.
Speaking to healthcare workers in Nakuru, Hon. Duale emphasized the need for integrity and transparency in service delivery. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring quality care for all Kenyans through regulation and oversight by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), regardless of economic status.
He further committed to using the digital health system to crack down on unqualified medical practitioners and cautioned doctors against sharing preauthorization codes—underscoring accountability in the digital era.
The CS also reiterated the enforcement of the bed capacity access rule to ensure that Social Health Authority (SHA) reimbursements align with actual facility capacity, urging providers to update their bed data with KMPDC to avoid service disruptions.
Hon. Duale praised Nakuru County for surpassing 840,000 SHA registrations and commended the dedication of healthcare workers in deepening UHC efforts at the grassroots. He emphasized the importance of onboarding all health workers onto SHA to sustain momentum.
