PS Muthoni engages stakeholders in Murang'a County on SHA registration and training for HRH
Murang'a , 2025 Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, led a series of high-level stakeholder engagements in Murang’a County ahead of the Public Participation Forum on the Quality of Care and Patient Safety Bill, 2025.
The PS paid courtesy visits to Murang’a Deputy County Commissioner, Mr. Charles Muriithi, and the Vice Chancellor of Murang’a University of Technology, Prof. Dickson Nyariki.
In her meeting with the Deputy County Commissioner, PS Muthoni underscored the importance of ongoing registration under the Social Health Authority (SHA) and recognized the critical role played by National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) in mobilizing communities and supporting the uptake of public health programmes.
At Murang’a University, she called for closer collaboration between academic institutions and health regulators, emphasizing the need to align training programmes with regulatory standards. Strengthening the capacity and quality of health training institutions, she noted, is essential to improving patient safety, delivering quality care, and boosting the global competitiveness of Kenyan health professionals.
The Principal Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to inclusive, participatory reforms aimed at advancing Universal Health Coverage through stronger regulation, accountability, and stakeholder engagement.
