The Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, made this commitmentย ย during a meeting with a delegation from UNITAID including Mr. Matthew Black, Mr. Romane Theoleyre, and Ms. Jeffrey Smith at his office in Nairobi.

โ€œOur biggest goal now is to make significant progress in maternal and neonatal care. A strong antenatal care programme is critical to achieving that,โ€ said Dr. Oluga.

The UNITAID delegation visit comes ahead of a National Stakeholders Workshop that will focus on developing strategies to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes.

Dr. Oluga also emphasized the Ministryโ€™s focus on building the capacity of healthcare workers to ensure the successful delivery of ANC services. โ€œWe are prioritizing the orientation and capability of our health workforce to effectively deliver on this mandate,โ€ he added.

He further highlighted the role of strategic partnerships in advancing the quality of maternal and newborn care, noting that collaboration with partners such as UNITAID is essential in achieving lasting impact.
