CS Duale, Governors in High-Level Talks on Health Sector Priorities

ย co-chaired a high-level meeting with county governors to discuss critical health sector programs at Afya House,Nairobi.ย 

The agenda focused on the rollout of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), implementation of the National Equipment Service Program (NESP), KEMSA's support to public health facilities, and operational arrangements for the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Key deliberations centered on SHA payment systems, sustainable solutions to address longstanding health sector grievances - particularly concerning UHC workers - and county-level sensitization on the new consignment stock commodity supply model.

The meeting also examined the payment model under the Facility Improvement Financing Act, 2023, which establishes mechanisms for efficient collection, retention and management of revenue from services at public health facilities across Kenya.

The CS was joined by Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr Ouma Oluga,Director General for Health Dr Patrick Amoth, Chief Executive Officers Dr. Waqo Ejersa(KEMSA), Dr. Mercy Mwangangi (SHA) and Anthony Lenaiyara (DHA) at a meeting also attended by CoG CEO Ms Mary Mwiti, Governors; Muthomi Njuki(Tharaka Nithi),Anne Waiguru(Kirinyaga) as well as Gladys Wanga (Homabay).
