Ministry of Health Rallies Counties to Tackle Tobacco and Substance Abuse at Devolution Conference 2025
Homabay Thursday August 14,2025 Kenya has cut adult tobacco use to 8.5% (TADSAS 2022) from 11.6% in 2014 through a number of strategies. Yet, over 650,000 adolescents have tried tobacco or nicotine, with flavored pouches on the rise — demanding urgent action.
At the Devolution Conference 2025, the State Dept. for Public Health & Professional Standards hosted a side event themed “Strengthening Devolved Responses to Drugs and Substance Abuse: A Call to Action for All Counties.”
