Kenya Targets First Locally Produced Vaccine by 2027 – PS Oluga

𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 - 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 - Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to local vaccine production, highlighting Kenya’s vision to produce the first locally manufactured vial by 2027.

Dr. Oluga made the remarks during a meeting with AIM Co. Ltd, a global manufacturer, where discussions focused on partnership modalities, technology transfer and building local capacity for vaccine manufacturing. He noted that developing local production is critical to strengthening health security, reducing reliance on imports and positioning Kenya as a regional hub for vaccines.

The AIM Co. Ltd delegation was led by Mr. Yan Zhou, Founder, Board Chair and CEO, accompanied by Mr. Jia Shaojun (President), Ms. Joanna Wenjuan Zhou (Vice President), Ms. Chloe Deng Wei (Director) and Ms. Nicole Wan Li (International Business Manager).

Also in attendance were AIM’s local partners Livelite Ltd, represented by Michael Asola (CEO), George Hu (VP, China and South East Asia), Louis Antoniu (VP Global Business Development – USA), Tom Warenga (Business Development), and Anthony Ochieng (Director of Partnerships).
